On the morning of May 22, 2023, at 8:40 a.m., Cheng Xinyu, a master's student from the Neural Computation and Brain-Computer Interaction Group, defended her master's thesis titled "Research on Multimodal Vigilance Estimation System for Long-Term Brain-Computer Interface Task." The defense panel consisted of the following experts: Associate Professor Li Ke from Beihang University, Associate Professor Li Hui from Capital Normal University, Senior Engineer Wang Xin from China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Institute of Technology and Economy, and Associate Researcher Qiu Shuang from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In addition, all research group members attended the master's thesis defense.
The defense session commenced with the announcement of the panel members by the defense secretary, who also provided an introduction to the personal background of the candidate. Cheng Xinyu presented a detailed report on her research topic, focusing on the innovative contributions of her master's thesis and her academic achievements during the course of her master's degree. After the presentation, the defense panel commended the significance and practical value of the thesis topic and posed a series of relevant questions. Cheng Xinyu responded to each question and engaged in a lively discussion with the defense experts. Finally, after deliberation and consultation among the defense panel, the thesis defense was unanimously approved by the committee, and it was recommended that Cheng Xinyu be granted a master's degree in engineering and be allowed to graduate.
